Use Threads in Omni Writes for single posts, scheduled posts, multi-post chains, Ghost Mode, mixed-media carousels, GIPHY GIFs, and topic tags.
This page covers Threads behavior and the media accepted by Omni Writes—not plan or billing limits. Ghost Mode exists only on Threads; Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, and X do not have Ghost Mode in Omni Writes.

Availability at a glance

Connect Threads

1

Open Channels

Go to Settings → Channels.
2

Connect Threads

Choose Threads, complete Meta/Threads OAuth, and approve publishing permissions.
3

Confirm the username

Verify the connected Threads username appears on the channel card.

Publish a post or chain

Select Threads, write up to 500 characters per post, add media or a GIPHY attachment, and optionally add one topic tag to the root post. For a chain, attach media to the exact post where it should appear. Chains support up to 11 posts. Auto-split can break a long draft into multiple posts while staying inside that 11-post ceiling.

Ghost Mode

Ghost Mode publishes an ephemeral text-only Threads post that stays active for 24 hours, then archives automatically. It is a Threads-only product feature. Use the Ghost Mode control in the Threads composer when you want a short-lived text post.

Text and publishing limits

Media limits

Threads allows a 1 GB video, but Omni Writes currently accepts up to 250 MB. The lower limit applies here.

Image details

  • Width: 320–1440 pixels.
  • Maximum aspect envelope: 10:1.
  • Use sRGB color.
  • A carousel can mix images and videos.

Video details

  • Container: MP4 or MOV.
  • Codec: H.264 or HEVC with AAC audio.
  • Duration: more than 0 and no more than 300 seconds.
  • Width: up to 1920 pixels.
  • Frame rate: 23–60 FPS.
  • Aspect ratio: 0.01:1 through 10:1.
  • 9:16 is recommended for vertical content.

GIFs and topic tags

A Threads GIF in Omni Writes uses GIPHY; it is not an uploaded GIF file. Use one GIF on a text post and do not combine it with uploaded media. One topic tag can be sent with the root post; ordinary hashtags remain part of the text. Ghost Mode disables topic tags and GIF attachments.

Media processing

Threads creates media containers before publishing. Every carousel child must become ready before the parent carousel publishes.
Keep scheduled assets available until publishing completes. A deleted, private, or expired file can make the complete carousel fail.

Common problems

  • Media fetch failed: Re-upload the file and retry.
  • Too many carousel items: Reduce the set to 20 or fewer.
  • Video too large: Compress it below 250 MB.
  • Ghost Mode blocked media: Turn off Ghost Mode before attaching media or building a chain.
  • Ghost Mode turned off automatically: Deselect other networks so Threads is the only destination, or keep Ghost Mode off for multi-network posts.
  • Authorization expired: Reconnect Threads, confirm the username, and retry from Calendar.
